Indonesia is a country in south east asia, consist of 17,508 island. Indonesia has titled of a big archipelago in the world, more that that, our people, tradition, and nature are rich. With over 238 million people, it is the world's fourth most populated country in the world. Indonesia has a big number of ethnic group with their own dialect and languages. That's one of the point behind the reason why our culture are so rich both with culture and tradition.
Indonesia lies between latitudes 11-S and 6-N, and longitudes 95-E and 141-E It consists of 17,508 islands, about 6,000 of which are inhabited. These are scattered over both sides of the equator. The largest are Java, Sumatra, Borneo (shared with Brunei and Malaysia), New Guinea (shared with Papua New Guinea), and Sulawesi. Indonesia has a large area, and most of that are water.

This beautiful nation, is one of the best tourist destination in the world. Because of our location, Indonesia is a part of "the ring of fire" which is makes our geography are so different. We have a lot of mountains, also volcanos, lakes, beaches, and other stunning natural object. This country provides a lot of thing, starting from foods, convenience place, amusing destination, shopping mall, beautiful scenery, joyful maritime experience, interesting religious spot, and a big number and variety of flora and fauna. You can get a trip up the mahakam river with its exotic scenery of ecological wealth, jungle trekking at kalimantan remote jungles, or visit Kersik Luway National Park where you can find black orchids. Shopping, is also the one of tourists' favourite thing when they go travelling. Malls in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital city, give you variety of high end labels and designers from around the world. If you don't like shopping in malls, you can visit Pasar Baru , an old market in Central Jakarta. The unique one is, you can get the vendors in Pasar Baru displaying Indonesian's old bills and coins in the front of the stores. This is a right place for someone with a tight budged and loved to bargain. Or, you can go shopping at tradisional market outside of Jakarta. If you are looking for souvenirs especially batik, Yogyakarta and Solo are the right choices! At Malioboro,Yogyakarta, the street vendors offering you batik wears and merchandises at affordable prices. The other nice place to visit is Kota Gede, the most famous centre of Yogya's silver industry. Rice is the staple food for all levels of Indonesian modern society. Indonesian cuisine reflects the diversity of people inhabiting about 6,000 islands that make up the Indonesian state. There are a variety of Indonesian dishes such as Sundanese cuisine, desert cuisine, bali cuisine, Palembang cuisine and javanese cuisine, and many more.
In the restaurant or certain common household, people use hands to eat, such as seafood restaurants, traditional restaurants ;Padang and Sundanese, or pedestal such as Pecel Catfish and fried chicken the typical of East Java cuisine. Places like this are usually also present the finger bowl, a bowl of tap water with lemon slices to give a fresh scent. A bowl of water should not be drunk; only used for washing hands before eating and after using their bare hands. Using chopsticks to eat commonly found in restaurants serving Chinese cuisine which has been adapted by Chinese people.
Indonesian cuisine are likely influenced by the Chinese, such as chicken noodle with dumplings or salty crackers, fuyunghay, and rice noodle (bee hoon, fried flat rice noodles, or char kway Teow).

With a big number of population in indonesia, islam is one of the biggest religion. The Indonesian archipelago has been an important trade region since at least the 7th century, when Srivijaya and then later Majapahittraded with China and India. Local rulers gradually absorbed foreign cultural, religious and political models from the early centuries CE, and Hindu and Buddhist kingdoms flourished. Indonesian history has been influenced by foreign powers drawn to its natural resources. We can see a lot of historical religion and heritage places in indonesia, most of them are ancient hindunese and buddhist temple. The temples buried down the earth for many years, then the dutch come and found it. The historical borrobudur and prambanan are the biggest buddhist and hindunese temple in indonesia.

PROBLEMS
As a big nation, Indonesia has countless beautiful sceneries and cultures to show. It supposed to be a perfect place for tourists. But , why the world only knows Bali? It’s because we are not selling our tourism aggressive enough. Beside , our the promotion tactics are not effective and efficient. One of the best and fastest way to promote Indonesia is trough the mass media, and the efforts must be government sponsored. We can see that countries like Hong Kong and even Malaysia have attracted tourists with their great advertisements through magazines, tv and billboard/banner, but we don’t see our government do this way of advertise.
The development of Indonesia tourism should be in the hand of professional. This could be the answer to solve the lack of problems that causes Indonesia tourism to come down. Professional means that someone who want to solve Indonesia tourism problems seriously without any delay to slow it down. Someone who has a good nationalism in their hearth that wanted to contributed in development of Indonesia tourism. The target included transportation, tourist centre, public service, accommodation and many more. It may take years but afterward we must be better from now.

As you can imagine, Indonesia has a lot of tourist attraction that scattered around it but not all of them being treated well by the government. These causes for tourist from different country are holding back their will to come to visit Indonesia. Compare to other country (e.g. Malaysia) who are really treat their tourist destination well, Indonesia seems nothing in dealing with these kinds of problems. Malaysia successfully manage to handle their tourism problem not like indonesia who are now still in struggle. And we haven't give the best to support it like the infrastructure.

The gap for income and social problems are some of the problems that interrupt tourism in Indonesia.
The gap for income interferes with tourism because Indonesia national income not evenly spread. Mean that there are many Indonesian people that live below the poverty rate but in the other hands there are people become richer with this situation, it's ironic to have poor people who live in tourist destination, where its should be the other way around because people who live in a tourist attraction should become richer because of the income from tourism activity.
Different from Hong kong, we are still in their back.
It’s ashamed for us to watch other country succeed while our country is still in struggle dealing with kinds of problem.
Yet there still social problem that we have to face in order to improve Indonesia tourism. In Indonesia social gap occur because Indonesia is consist with a lot of ethnic that comes with variety of a social knowledge. For example, in some culture talking while eating are consider bad habit but in the other hands there are culture that believe talking while eating are a pleasure for having a nice food. But it doesn’t really matter in the end because no matter how strong we denied it we just have to live with the fact that Indonesia has a lot of ethnic and its dilemma that comes with it.

Indonesia is one of the attractive destination for many tourists. However, Indonesia does not have adequate facilities for tourists, especially on the existence of the visitor center that can help the tourists to know the life of Indonesia. Or maybe the fact is to find a visitor center in town is really hard. Our government just put the target on the big mall not in all area, perhaps we only can find it in a major places in jakarta. In the other hand, singapore had a good service with its visitor center. Singapore visitor center provide facilities such as free internet, free maps, hotel booking services, etc.

Transportation and tourism are the two important things that cannot be separated. There must be access for tourists to get into the tourism area. The problem is, we still don’t have adequate transportation. We need more public transportations such as modern bus, ship, or train to reach it. Without a proper transportation, tourist attraction seems useless because tourist can't visit it.

We can’t deny that fund is important to help Indonesia tourism. Can you imagine that if we have enough funding to support Indonesia tourism, Indonesia would have develop much more than today. Indonesia government should put their attention seriously about this, because without enough of funding, the potential that we have can’t be seen or even be heard to the world. indonesia should gives financial support the places that can be develop into tourist attraction. and the government look after it.
for example, The United Arab Emirates, the government gives away money to financially support their tourist attraction to develop much more, as it turned out to a success, which we can see it today.

The best way to spread the news about Indonesia with its activity surrounding promoting through the internet. We already know that ministry cultural and tourism is developing it with our webpage. http://www.indonesia.travel as known as visit Indonesia official web page, is a really good webpage but its not a hit, this because of the lack in promoting Indonesia tourism. In indonesia itself, not many people know about this webpage. Then the government should make an interesting advertisement. Screen advertisement is the best way to reach the significant number of tourist target. In this case, the government should make a "whole package" advertisement, we know we had some advertisement but these advertisement didn’t really show the world about a lot of beautiful places and exciting activity in Indonesia. We can adopt the advertisement of visit Malaysia, fly emirates, visit Singapore, and many amusing and attractive advertisement. Or we can produce a cyclical advertisement that change the information of new places every 3 months. And we should provide abetter services on our web page, and using a social networking attracts people.

One reason why people don’t want to visit Indonesia is about the cleanness. Our cleanness for public facilities is terrible. Media said that some people, band or musician doesn’t really sure to have a concert or gigs in Indonesia because of this issue. Coldplay a big British band didn’t sure about to play here because they think Indonesia is a place where people are free to litter, and don’t really care about environment. Government should take this case seriously, we can develop it with divided the waste, and we can recycle it, organic waste can be useful. In Jakarta this organic waste can be reused, and produce methane so government can use it as fuel or household (cooking, etc).
Cultural acclaims.
The issues of culture acclaims by some of Asian country to Indonesian culture are very interesting, which we can’t blame it to that country. The fact is, our society doesn’t take care of it, and the government cannot solve the problem. To solve the problem, we can make a festival of Indonesian culture, or make a tourist attraction with stage performance like music and stage art, we can adopt it from some European Country, and Asian country. Thailand is better from us in many way, Thailand see this problem seriously, so with a limited culture they can attract people to come because government provide the facilities for public and for art.
